Our programmes

Internships

Are you keen to learn about what we do and get some practical experience? We offer paid internships to university students in their first and penultimate year and to those about to start postgraduate study. Our internships run for either six or eight weeks.

You’ll gain on-the-job skills as you join one of our teams and contribute to a specific project. And, you’ll attend talks and networking events to grow your knowledge. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about our role in the UK’s economy and gain valuable experience in the process.

Industrial Placement Programme

We’ve designed this programme to help talented people gain valuable work experience at the heart of the UK’s financial system.

On this 13-month programme, you’ll choose from our operations, data, economics, technology or supervision teams. You’ll get involved in our policy, research and operational work, and attend regular training and events.

Graduate Development Programme

This programme will help you to develop the skills you need to become an expert in your field. We’ll ask you to choose from one of the following areas: operations, economics, risk, data, technology, supervision. There’s also a dedicated area for postgraduates.

In two years and three months, you’ll gain an in-depth understanding of what it’s like working for us, and you’ll do it alongside fellow graduates in an environment that’s supportive, collaborative and sociable.

Black Future Leaders Sponsorship Programme

We’re looking for students from a Black/Black Heritage (including mixed) background with a household income of less than £50,778 a year. You will need to be in your first or penultimate year at university and be expecting a 2.1 degree classification.

If you are eager to learn, share our purpose and genuinely motivated to work for us, we would love to hear from you. We are looking for people who are collaborative, open to diverse ideas, quick learners and able to set their own targets.

Actuarial Development Programme

We’re looking for someone who is about to graduate or has graduated in the last two years. You’ll need analytical skills and plenty of initiative, as well commitment to the role.

Trainee Solicitor Development Programme

We’re looking for someone who is about to graduate or has graduated with either:

• a UK law degree; or
• a UK non-law degree plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PGDL); or
• a law degree from a non-UK jurisdiction plus a PGDL.

You will be a committed, open-minded individual with excellent analytical skills. Gain on-the-job experience working at the heart of the UK’s central bank as you work toward qualification as a solicitor.
